Sun Safety Tips from Nick Jr.

Although the majority of people who frequent blogs are adults, Nick Jr. has a great guide for parents and kids to read together! It helps remind us of ways to ensure the best protection against the sun and its harmful UVA and UVB rays.

Tip #1 Kids Need Shades Too: We totally agree! Children's eyes let in 70 percent more UV rays than adult's eyes.

Tip #2 Get the Right Level of Protection: Just like sunscreen comes in a variety of SPFs, sunglass lenses come in various tints. To find which outdoor condition each tint is most appropriate for, visit All About Vision's website.

Tip #3 Set a Good Example: Kids like to copy adults, so if they see their parents wearing sunglasses outside, they'll be more likely to want to follow suit!

Tip #4 Wrap It Up: UV rays can get to our eyes from the front AND from the side. So make sure that glasses (like Babiators) are securely placed on a child's face.

Tip #5 Get Real Protection: Just because flimsy plastic toy glasses will fit a child's face, this doesn't mean they will protect their eyes, people! Real eye protection protects against real UVA and UVB rays.

Tip #6 Don't Worry: Don't fret, kids who wear protective eyewear are no longer excluded from the sunglasses game.
